Biochemistry – The Basics

What is Biochemistry?

In essence: the study of the 12 Cell-salts (the 12 primary mineral salts that compose your cells, organs, bones and body fluids) and how these salts influence your biology.

With a sound understanding of the functions each mineral plays, Biochemistry makes symptom management simple, and remedies are considered complete when the symptoms are gone.
Because these elements are all natural and normal to have in the body, and the dosages at minute, cell-stimulating levels, there are no harmful side effects. (There are more than 12 cell-salts , but only 12 are considered primary – contact us to discuss advanced biochemic minerals.)

The Biochemic method of healing is simple.

#1 – Analyze the organism for signs of impaired function. (Symptom Analysis & Facial Diagnosis)
The symptoms tell us what systems are being effected, the skin shows acute vs chronic deficiencies.
#2 – Supply small, but regular doses of the exact mineral salts involved in that function, until the deficiency improves – seen in a resolution of symptoms, and balance returning to the organism.
#3 – Enjoy the feeling of a body that has all the elements required for the expression of good health. A state of balance, resilience and bodily harmony you thought gone to the ages!

Study the 12 general functions below, or use this as a reference with the Symptoms page to become familiar with both your body and the power of minerals

General Overview - the 12 cell-salts

#1 Calcium fluoride (Calc fluor) - Elasticity

Calcium Fluoride

#1 Supports skin, connective tissues and coatings.

Found in: Bones, Tooth Enamel, The Epidermis(skin), Elastic Fibers (tendons, ligaments), Connective tissue.

Function – Tempering Tissues.  Imparting the element of elasticity into tissues, and as both a softener and a hardener. It softens hardened tissues such as warts, callouses and scar tissue, and can make loose tissues firm, such as stretch marks, varicose veins and prolapses. In coatings such as enamel, imparts hardness and durability, so useful against tooth decay.

Useful for:
Flat-Feet, Fallen Arches, Bone spurs, Spider-veins, Crows-feet, Bone Deposits, Haemorrhoids, Slipped-disks, Joint Problems Flabbiness (loose skin) and Psoriasis.

#2 Supports Bones, Renewal & Rebuilding

Found in: All cells, bones and teeth.

Function – Renewal.  Recovery after illness (convalescence), as it is needed for protein utilization in the body, and thus to form new cells. Remedies growing pains, as it is the primary element bones are made of (57%). Assists in healing of fractures, tooth and bone health. Considered an overall strengthening remedy, has a soothing effect on the heart and assists bloods ability to coagulate properly.

Iron phosphate

#3 Blood oxygen levels, First Line of Defence

Found in: All cells, primarily Blood-cells and muscle. Intestine, Liver, Bone-marrow.

Function – Oxygen. Gives blood it’s red colour and it’s ability to hold oxygen. More Iron = more oxygen, or ‘fuel for the fire’ of our cells, increasing cellular activity – so beneficial for both healing and intense exercise.  All injuries (cuts, contusions etc.) require iron(and oxygen) at higher levels than normal, to mend flesh and seal an area from possible infection. At the first sign of heat and inflammation – Iron phosphate is required by the body.

Useful for: Wound healing, Burns, Circulatory issues(strengthens), Weak immune system, All Inflammation. Powerful when used at the start of infections (alternate #3 with #4).

#4 Lymphatic System Health

Found in: Almost all Cells, Glands, Mucous Membranes, The Lungs, Red-Blood Cells.

Function – Lymph system. Hold fibers in solution, and has an affinity for mucous production. Lymphatic glands that are swollen and clogged with waste matter require this mineral to act as a solvent on the lymphatic fluids – dissolving tough clots of mucous/phlegm. Very effective in early stage infections (pair with #3) – especially if the tongue shows a white coating, a dead give-away for #4. Natural Anti-clotting agent.

Useful for: Colds (thick, white-grey phlegm). Chesty coughs. Tendon sheath, bursa and Joint health. Gastritis/colitis (inflamed mucous membranes) Rashes/wounds with white/grey coatings.

#4 Potassium chloride (Kali mur) - Glands

Potassium chloride

#5 Potassium phosphate(Kali phos) - Mental

Potassium phosphate

#5 Brain-food, Nerve Nutrient, Anti-biotic

Found in: All cells, primarily Blood-cells and muscle. Intestine, Liver, Bone-marrow.

Function – Mental health. Used with organic elements to form the grey-matter of the brain, so vital for forming new neural pathways and maintaining brain-health. Assists in preventing cell decay, acting as an internal anti-septic or anti-biotic (except pro-life). Essential for nerve and muscle health and function, has a regulating effect on the mind, nervous system and emotions. Invigorating.

Useful for: Any and all mental afflictions (Depression, anxiety, fear, panic etc). Stress. Falling hair. Insomnia. Nerve health. Weakness of Heart or Muscles. Heart Palpitations. Exam Anxiety. Overload in Students. Learning.

#6 Oils, Skin Health, Detox, Liver Support.

Found in: All Ferrous Cells, Skin, Bones, Muscles, Nails, Pancreas.

Function – Manufacture of oils. Very beneficial for skin health and recovery from rashes and wounds. Used to manufacture the bodily oils, which allow skin to breath and also acts as our first line of defence against microbes. Cleansing. Involved in protein synthesis and cell respiration (with#3). A wonderful detoxing agent, supportive of the liver and cleansing to toxins. Chronic profuse phlegm, that is slimy and yellow/ochre in colour require this mineral.

Useful for: All Skin and Liver ailments. Inflammation of mucous membranes ( throat, stomach, conjunctiva etc.)
‘Cleaning up’ after infections/cold/flus (after #3 and #4) – for recovery phase.

#6 Potassium sulphate (Kali sulph) - Oils

Potassium sulphate

#7 Magnesium phosphate(Mag phos) - Energy

Magnesium phosphate

#7 Muscle Relaxant, Anti-spasmodic, Cell-Energy

Found in: Muscles, Nerves, Brain, Heart, Blood-cells, Glands, Marrow, Bones and Teeth.

Function – Vital force. Activates over 300 different enzymes within the body, and is necessary for the formation and maintenance of the nerves. All energy producing processes in the cell require this mineral. Relieves muscle tension, and soothes all spasms, muscular or organ (stomach, intestines etc.) A structural as well as functional mineral that is used in large quantities, and due to soil depletion, most of us require as a supplement. Nervous system support.

Useful for: Spasms. Pain (especially nerve)  Teething. Coughing fits. Cramping (ie. calves or during menstruation.) Muscle tension. Stress. Asthma. Colic/Flatulence. Energy Boost.

#8 Fluid balance, Digestion, Cleansing

Found in: All Body Fluids and Tissues. Cartilage, Mucous membranes, Synovia.

Function – Hydration, Osmosis. Allows the efficient movement of waste and nutrient through water within the system. Vital, as this mineral gives cells the ability to uptake fluids infused with nutrients and to excrete waste products. Water is the carrier of life, because of it’s involvement with this mineral. In conditions of excessive dryness or wetness – this salt brings balance. Important for healthy cell formation, and gastric juice production – making it a wonderful digestive aid.

Useful for: Nasal drip. Excess saliva. Dry skin. Watery Diarrhea/Vomit. Skin Rash with Blisters. Oedema. Large pores. Cellulite. Migraines.
Lack of Milk in Mothers. Lack of Drive.
Insect Bites and Following Vaccinations.

note - all information above is generalized

Most adults by the time they notice symptoms, are deficient in more than one mineral.
Ie. If your condition requires salt #2, but you are low on the fluid balance mineral #8, there is no way we can get the #2 where it is needed, until #8 allows nutrients to get where they need to go.

When in doubt, contact a professional
Have your mineral levels assessed, and from there you will be able to self-manage into the future!
